My first experience in the wedding industry was as an assistant to a celebrity planner for a wedding at the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Ray. I worked with a team of 5 others setting up florals, linens, and other fabulous décor
for what was the most beautiful wedding I had ever seen. I was instantly hooked to the romance and beauty that was weddings. When I got engaged in 2006, I knew that I wanted to plan and design my own wedding and began reading Martha Stewart Weddings magazine obsessively and checking Style Me Pretty hourly. As a bride I was exposed to a totally new side of wedding planning, and vowed that when I got back from my honeymoon I would start a business to help my fellow brides plan their dream day. In 2007 I opened Joy de Vivre. Since opening, I have been lucky enough to help over one hundred sweet couples down the aisle. I feel so very fortunate to do something I love, and something that I believe truly helps couples on the most memorable day of their lives.
When I got married, I knew I wanted to have a romantic, Jane Austen style garden party. I’ve always loved sweet, vintage weddings full of whimsy and charm, and am a sucker for rustic, repurposed, chic decor. I adore Anthropologie and J.Crew, muted colors, lace and burlap. Details like painted wooden signs, mason jars filled with lemonade and chandeliers hanging from trees get me every time. I’m a die-hard do-it-yourself advocate, and enjoy working with my clients on creative crafts projects that reflect their personalities.
